Ida M. Smith

GARDINER -- Ida M. Smith, 79, of Gardiner died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Robinson's Health Care in Gardiner.

She was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Vienna, the daughter of Otis and Edith Foss. Ida grew up in Vienna and married Walter Smith in 1941. She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed flowers and flower gardens.

Ida was predeceased by her son, Walter Smith Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Smith Sr.; two brothers, Myron Foss of Bingham and Everett Foss of Oregon; a sister, Pauline McDonald of Bingham; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. Relatives and friends may visit from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Glenside Cemetery.

Ida E. Perkins

HALLOWELL - Ida E. Perkins, 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Augusta on Aug. 4, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Irene (Brown) Freeman.

Ida was a graduate of Cony High School.

She married Lloyd A. Perkins on Nov. 20, 1941, and they were married nearly 60 years upon his passing on March 26, 2001.

Aside from raising six children, Ida was very proud of working for much of her life in the field of nursing.

She liked traveling on vacations and going for rides with family and friends, and enjoyed special visits from her friends, Sofie and Emily. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter very much and will be dearly missed by them all.

Ida was predeceased by her husband and her brother and two sisters, Arthur Freeman Jr., Marjorie Freeman and Peggy Benson.

She is survived by three sons, Lloyd Perkins Jr. and his wife, Michele, of Augusta, John Perkins and his wife, Geri, of Hallowell and Wayne Perkins, also of Hallowell; three daughters, Linda Johnson and her husband, Bruce, of Hallowell, Cheryl Stevens and her husband, Leonard, of Tulsa, Okla., and Kathy Clary and her husband, Les, of Augusta; a daughter-in-law, Jean Perkins, of Texas; a sister-in-law, Mary Freeman, of South China; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Kimberly, John and Scott Perkins, Stephen and Cory Johnson, Heidi Jones and Nicholas Stevens; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Johnson.

A celebration of Ida's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. Committal prayers and burial will follow in Hallowell Cemetery.
