Dorothy Irma Williams

WINTHROP — Dorothy Irma Williams, 94, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Heritage Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Winthrop.

She was born in St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 11, 1907, the daughter of James C. and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Henry.

Dorothy had lived in St. Louis, Mo., San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and for the last 30 years in Farmingdale with her daughter and son-in-law.

She had worked as a supervisor for a telephone company in St. Louis.

Dorothy and her husband, Sheldon Dow Williams, enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States; he died in 1981. She also was predeceased by four brothers, James Carvin Henry, William Parker Henry, Eugene Vernon Henry and Kenneth Adrian Henry; a sister, Harriet Stolts, and a great-grandson, Parker Alan Barrett.

She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy "Jeanne" Jacobsohn and her husband, Dr. Ulrich Jacobsohn, of Farmingdale; four grandchildren, David Clark Jacobsohn and his wife, Lorrie, of Acton, Mass., Mark Sheldon Jacobsohn and his wife, Denise, of York, Julia Barrett, of West Gardiner, and Stacey Lindholm and her husband, Glenn, of Hallowell; five great-grandchildren, Jack Barrett, of West Gardiner, Alex Jacobsohn, Bradley Jacobsohn, Sheldon Jacobsohn and Clark Jacobsohn, all of Massachusetts; also several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services at this time and visitation will be private. Burial will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, Pet Haven Lane, Augusta 04330. Arrangements are under the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.

WINSLOW - Irma O. Clark, 88, of Winslow died on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Waterville.

She was born in North Newcastle on Dec. 14, 1915, the daughter of Leslie and Carol (Williams) Fowles.

She grew up in the Gardiner area and attended Gardiner schools. Irma moved to Alabama during World War II and met her husband, the late Gerald W. Clark, while she was there. She and Gerald moved back to Maine and settled in Readfield in 1954. She worked at several jobs over the years, but really enjoyed the seasonal apple picking at Kents Hill Orchard. Irma moved to Winslow in 1988.

Mrs. Clark enjoyed bowling, bird-watching and gardening and was known for her good cooking. She also collected cobalt-blue glass. She was a member of the Readfield Ladies Unlimited Rifle Club and was outdoor small-bore champion several times.

Irma was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; and her sister, Nona Dunn. She is survived by two sons, Gerald W. Clark Jr. and his wife, Francine, of Readfield, and Ernest E. Clark and his wife, Yolanda, of Crosby, Texas; three daughters, Joan Shailer of Cheney, Wash., Cheryl Martin-Hunt and her husband, Eric, of Fairfield, and Carol McLeod and her husband, Bruce Sr., of Fairfield; a brother, Ernest White and his wife, Jane, of Brunswick; grandchildren Grace Shailer, Robert Shailer III, Jon Shailer, Michael Clark, Debra Sue Reeder, Stephanie Warren, Heather Grant, April Cameron, Ryan Martin, Bruce McLeod Jr., Michelle Kew, Michael Hunt, Eric Hunt Jr. and Tiffany Stewart; and her great-grandchildren, Nathan and Alexander Clark, Hunter, Rab and Erica Reeder, Briana and Devin Warren, Taylor and Ariel Grant, Austin and Logan Cameron, Connor and Cassidy McLeod, Pandora Kew, Katelyn Hunt, and Emma and Eli Stewart.

Relatives and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14. Burial will be in Readfield Corner Cemetery.
