Audrey Knowles Irish Obituary (1935 - 2012)

MANCHESTER - Audrey Knowles Irish, 77, of Manchester, passed away on November 20, 2012 with her loving family by her side at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Audrey was born to Heron and Mary Farrington Knowles on July 5, 1935 in Augusta. On January 1, 1954, she married her husband and love of her life of 58 years, George Irish Jr. Audrey worked at Avenue Market, W.T. Grants and many years at Taylor’s Hardware. She served as the Sexton for the Town of Manchester’s cemeteries for many years. Audrey also had a long career as an Avon Representative where she was able to spend days meeting new people and visiting friends. Audrey was a member of Wayside Chapel in West Gardiner and greatly enjoyed spending time with her church family. Audrey enjoyed reading, playing games, dining out and most of all days spent with her family. She also loved spending time at her special getaway, Evergreen Valley in Stoneham. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Rance and Bryan Knowles; and her grandson, Jonathon Paul Irish, who was her pride and joy. She is survived by her Husband, George Irish Jr., of Manchester, their son, Paul Irish and his wife Julie of West Gardiner; their daughter, Mary Becker and her husband Jeffrey of Manchester; brother, Irving Knowles and his wife Joanne of Litchfield; grandchildren, Jessica Irish and her husband Adam Deane of Bath, Christina Marie Johnson of Winthrop, Jamie Johnson and her husband Travis of Farmingdale; two great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Summer Irish-Deane of Bath. Audrey was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her third great-grandchild Taylor Marie Johnson. A graveside committal service will be held Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Manchester Forks Cemetery. A memorial celebration of Audrey's life will be held Sunday, November 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Wayside Chapel, Neck Road, West Gardiner. Audrey touched many lives and her memory will live on in our hearts.
