Avard Linwood Wheeler Obituary (1950 - 2017)

Mt. Vernon ~ Avard Linwood Wheeler, 67, passed away suddenly while on his annual fishing trip up north May 27, 2017. He was born in Hartland on January 19, 1950, the son of Linwood and Helen Wheeler. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 1968, then attended University of Maine in Orono for Agriculture. He worked at the Davenport Farm in Wayne and was a member of the Maine Army National Guard for 6 years. He also worked for IP in Jay and then Champion in Bucksport until he retired in 2012. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, trapping, and gardening. He also enjoyed helping his son raise livestock at their farm in Mt. Vernon, as well as helping out anyway he could at Fike’s Custom Cutting in Readfield. But most of all his family and many friends were his priority in life, his sons and grandchildren were what he lived for. He is survived by his two sons, Andy R. Wheeler and his girlfriend, Caitlin Godfrey, and Jason A. Wheeler and his girlfriend, Candice Stevens; four grandchildren, Caleb and Parker Wheeler and Steven and Hunter Blais; one brother, Bruce Wheeler; two nieces, Nickole Wheeler and Erin Wheeler Degan and her husband, Chris; two great nephews, Ian and Sean Degen; two step-brothers, Kevin Wheeler and Jeff Hinds.
