Claribelle B. Birch Obituary (1912 - 2012)

HALLOWELL—Claribelle B. Birch, 99, of Hallowell, died Tuesday January 31, 2012 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation, Glenridge Drive in Augusta. She was born October 13, 1912 in Baileyville, Maine the daughter of Amos and Alma (Smith) Barrett. Clara graduated from Pembroke High School in 1930 and later earned her license as a Practical Nurse at Augusta General Hospital where she then worked for several years. She married Edward A. Birch and they moved to Brunswick where she worked at the Regional Memorial Hospital for many years. Clara was a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick. Mrs. Birch was predeceased by her husband, Edward; two sisters, Amy Barrett and Bessie Lyons and three brothers, Harlan, Carroll, and Granville Barrett. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Lasselle, of Hallowell; a nephew, Keith Barrett, of Pembroke; two grandnieces, Cheri Haskell, of Cushing and Tina Barrett, of Rockland. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Riverside Cemetery in Brunswick. Arrangements are under the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta.
