Obituary

Winthrop ~ Frank W. Ricker, 79, of Campers Point Road, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born in Lewiston on November 22, 1938, the son of Walter and Myrle (Brewer) Ricker. Frank graduated from Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT. He attended Bates College, where he minored in Biology and Education, and graduated from the University of Maine, Orono with a Master’s Degree in Education. He taught school at Bridgeton Academy and later at Hall Dale High School. In 1966 he started to work for the State of Maine, Marine Biology, and eventually was promoted to the Director of Soil and Water for the Department of Agriculture. He finished his career as a microbiologist at the State Lab testing, retiring at the age of 74. Frank was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed reading, wood carving, and following his grandchildren’s sporting events. In his earlier years, he coached baseball, track and basketball. He is survived by his wife Courtney Ricker of Winthrop; his children; Shari Falcone of Winthrop, David Ricker of Winthrop, and Melinda Ricker of Portland; his grandchildren; Ashley Falcone-Eaton and her husband Michael, David Ricker, Shane Ricker, Aaliyah WilsonFalcone, and Elizabeth, Stephanie, Michael and Laura Ayotte; his great- grandchildren Gianna Falcone and Roman Eaton, as well as many extended family. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, March 3, at the Faith Alliance Church, 18 Pleasant Street, Winthrop. The doors of the church will be open at 10:00. Directly following the service, there will be a gathering of family and friends in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Alpha 1 Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables, FL. 33134.
