Georgie C. Strout Obituary (1934 - 2014)

CHELSEA ~ Georgie C. Strout, 79, of Chelsea, died Friday February 21, 2014 at her home. She was born in Augusta, October 5, 1934 the daughter of Ivan and Thelma (Larrabbee) Doe. She grew up in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School. Georgie worked for the Maine State Police for a short time but left to raise her family. Mrs. Strout enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing and other crafts. Georgie was predeceased by her parents and her four sisters, Mary Blanchard, Irene Thibodeau, Grace Dorr and Lena Roberts. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Strout, Sr.; her sons, Robert L. Strout, Jr. and his wife, Gale, of Chelsea, Rev. Reginald Strout, of Skowhegan, Randall Strout, of Chelsea and Scott Strout and his wife, Dawnna, of Chelsea as well as 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A committal service will be held in the chapel of the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, on Thursday February 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church Street, Augusta.
