Ghislain B. Cloutier Obituary (1965 - 2014)

Winthrop – Ghislain B. Cloutier died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 as a result of an automobile accident in Leeds. Ghislain (Gus) was born in St. George, Quebec on June 14, 1965 to the late Michel Cloutier and Celine Lapointe Cloutier. Gus moved to Jackman just before his 13th birthday, where he attended Forest Hills Consolidated School and graduated in 1984. As a teenager, Gus was employed by Bishops General Store in Jackman. After high school he worked for Scott Paper and in 1986 went to work for Boise Cascade, now NewPage, until his death. He met Susan in December, 1986 while visiting friends and married the love of his life on May 21, 1999. His son Casey was born on June 14, 2000 and the two had the unique bond of sharing the same birthday. Three years later his son Chase was born on October 17, 2003. Gus was member of the USA Hockey Officials and a USA Hockey Coach. He coached in the Maranacook Youth Hockey League and was currently coaching Chase’s middle school hockey team. He played in the Cardiac League, a men’s league at the Kents Hill Ice Arena and was an avid Montral Canadians fan. Gus was a devoted father and saved most of his vacation so that he could attend his sons’ hockey tournaments. He enjoyed whitewater kayaking and spending time in the Maine outdoors. His true love and passion was spending time with his boys building their ice rink, making sure their dirt bikes were running, and that hockey bags were packed and ready to go. Gus was known for his patience, warm smile and sense of humor. If your were lucky you may have heard a serande or two from Gus while he played some Canadian Jigs on his accordian. He had many wonderful friends and spoke of them often, always ready to lend a helping hand.. Gus is survived by his wife Susan and son Chase Cloutier of Winthrop; mother Celine Cloutier of Jackman, Maine, brothers Alan Cloutier and wife Darlene of Williston, Vermont, Marco Cloutier and wife Erin of Lewiston, Maine; brothers-in-law Richard Pierce of Pittston, Maine, Ronald Pierce and wife Sandra of Emerado, North Dakota, and Gary Pierce and wife Tammy of Chelsea, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews. Gus is predeceased by his son Casey Cloutier, father Michel Cloutier and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Malcolm and Pauline Pierce. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Winthrop, Maine with Bishop Deeley, Presiding Celebrant and Father Nate Marsh, Co-Celebrant.
