Joanne W. Hunt Obituary (1928 - 2011)

TOPSHAM -- Joanne W. Hunt, 83, formerly of Readfield, died Friday, Oct. 28, at Cadigan Lodge in Topsham. She was born in Springfield, Mass., on July 14, 1928, the daughter of John E. and Sarah E. (Leh) Welch. Joanne married Donald Roy Hunt Jr. on Sept. 6, 1947 in West Springfield, Mass. They moved to Readfield in 1956. She decided to pursue a career in nursing and graduated from the Maine School of Practical Nursing in 1972. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Family Medicine Institute for several years until her retirement. Joanne loved her genealogy, watching the Boston Red Sox, tending to her flower gardens and watching and feeding the birds. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, on July 19, 1970. She is survived by her sons, Keith Hunt and his wife, Leslie, of Monmouth and Eric Hunt and his wife, Cheryl, of Fairfield; five grandchildren, Melinda and her companion, Seize Imura, of Brookline, Mass., Michelle Kew of Portland, Michael Hunt of Skowhegan, Eric Hunt Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Plainville, Mass., and Tiffany Stewart and her husband, Jon, of Bangor; also eight great-grandchildren. At Joanne's request, there will be no visiting hours or service at this time. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date in Readfield Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Grace Episcopal Church, 1100 Washington St., Bath, ME. 04530.
