Linwood A. Keller Obituary (1928 - 2018)

SIDNEY ~ Linwood A. Keller, 89, of Sidney, died peacefully at his home on Friday May 25, 2018. He was born in Augusta, July 13, 1928 the son of Elwood and Bessie (Leavitt) Keller. He grew up in Hallowell, attending school there and later graduating from Gates Business School. Linwood served in the Marine Corps for two years and then went on to serve in the Maine National Guard as a Logistics Officer for forty years, retiring in 1988 with the rank of CW4. Linwood was a member of the American Legion, Post 6, Hallowell, the Kennebec Lodge #5 AF&AM in Hallowell, Queen of Esther Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Grand Royal Arch Chapter 4, Hallowell, was a past member of the School Board in SAD 47 and was a past Selectman in Sidney. Mr. Keller lived in the house he built and called it his paradise. He enjoyed hunting and spending time in the outdoors especially his camp at Aziscohos Lake and the Norway’s in Lower Enchanted Maine. He travelled to nearly every state including Alaska and Hawaii, enjoying many times in his RV. He was a winter resident of Lakeland, Florida for many years. Linwood was known as a kind person who never hesitated to help others. He was extremely devoted to and proud of his family. He was always there for all of us with advice, support and, most importantly, his love. Although he has moved on to heaven, his spirit will forever be in our hearts. Linwood was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine Keller; his brother, Earl Keller and his sisters, Patricia Jean and Gwendolyn Tracy and two nephews, Elwood Tracy and John Delaware. He is survived by his wife, Cathleen; children, Lonwood Keller and his wife, Mary, Sarah Stratton and her husband, Pete, Sandra Webster and her husband, John and Ray and Linda Breton; his grandchildren, Joseph and Christopher Finemore, Samantha, Nicole, and Joseph Breton, Cathy Simmons, Pete, Jr. and Ben Stratton, Jamison and Stacie Webster; thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Gould Cemetery in Smithfield on Friday June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Linwood’s family would like to thank Dr. Dohner, Nurse Lynda, Erika and the entire MaineGeneral Hospice team for their support, compassion and kindness during this difficult time.
