Marvin Clyde Parker Obituary (1942 - 2014)

AUGUSTA - Marvin Clyde Parker, 71, of Eastern Avenue, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born in Augusta, on Nov. 7, 1942, the son of Clyde and Ina (Everett) Parker. He attended Winthrop High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Marvin had worked at several area gas stations, and later as a machinist at Statler Tissue for over 20 years. He also drove a bus for KVCAP. Marvin enjoyed working on cars both old and new, and was a member of the American Legion. He was predeceased by his mother Ina Jolin; stepfather Simon Jolin; his father Clyde Parker; stepmother Donna Parker, and a brother Ed Parker. He is survived by two daughters, Lorna Veatch, of Manteca, Calif., and Tammy Parker Kelly, of Bangor; a sister Mary Fogg and her husband, Richard, of Westbrook, and a brother Hale Parker, of Nyack, N.Y. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1 Church St., Augusta, followed by a celebration of his life at noon. Spring burial will full military honors will be held at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
