Muriel A. Fortin Obituary (1926 - 2012)

Winthrop - Muriel A. (McLean) Fortin, 86, of Narrows Pond Road, went home to be with the angels on Friday, October 12, 2012. She was born in Weeks Mills on January 23, 1926, one of six children of Reed and Minnie (Jackson) McLean. In her earlier years, she worked for many years in local shoe shops. Muriel lived life to the fullest. She loved to dance and party. She was the happiest when she was spending time with her family. She was a member of the Sidney Second Baptist Church, the Eagles Club and the American Legion. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed. She was predeceased by her husband Roland Fortin, a son Roland L. Gay II, four brothers and sisters, and a great granddaughter Gracie. She is survived by Carolyn Gile and her husband Herm, Gail Williams and her husband Don, and Wanda Gay; a sister Arlene Wheelock; eight grandchildren, Donald Farrington of Machias, Danny Farrington of Augusta, Donald Williams of Topsham, Bill Williams of Winthrop, Darren Williams of Winthrop, Barbie Petkers of Winthrop, Roland Gay III of Michigan and Angie Michaud of Turner: 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Winthrop Manor for the care and compassion given to Muriel during her stay there. Committal services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, October 19, in the chapel at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
