Olive Ripley Ross Obituary (1924 - 2014)

Readfield ~ Olive Ripley Ross, 89, of Readfield, died Tuesday March 4, 2014 at Clover Health Care in Auburn. She was born on Grand Manan Island, NB Canada to Albert and Pearl Ripley on July 11, 1924. She attended Calais Maine schools. She married Linwood Ross and together they raised their children in Aroostook County, South Portland and Readfield. She became involved in Democratic Party politics which led her to become Social Secretary of the Blaine House for Governor Ken Curtis and Governor Joe Brennan. Olive welcomed all that came to the Blaine house or her home with her warm, practical charm. She could both tell a great story and laugh heartily at one. She cherished her family and her friends, and was a wonderful support to all who knew her. Ollie loved summers at Big Lake, in Princeton Maine and winters in Florida. Olive was predeceased by her husband Linwood, her daughter Patty and her sisters Verna Beek and Annie Ross. She is survived by her son Kurt Ross and his wife Jennifer of Wayne; Grandchildren, Alyssa Ross Anaya, Dylan Ross and Colby Ross, and her sister Shirley Petillo, of Portland as well as her great grandchildren and cherished nephews and nieces. A celebration of life will be held at the Wayne Community Church, Wayne ME on Saturday March 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Camp Susan Curtis, 1321 Washington Ave. Suite 104 Portland, ME 04103.
