Paul B. Whitten Obituary (1938 - 2015)

MANCHESTER ~ Paul Benjamin Whitten, 77, died March 14, 2015 at home, with his loving family by his side, after a long illness. Paul was born in Augusta on March 9, 1938, the son of Pearl and Harriet (Lambert) Whitten. He worked in many shoe shops, Smiley’s Roller Rink and was a custodian for Cony High School. He was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws, brothers Perley and Junior Whitten and sisters Lorraine Gilley and Margaret Massey. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elsie Whitten; his children, daughter Mae Libby and her husband, Steve, and son Paul Whitten and his wife, Anita; his grandkids, Duane Vigue and wife Kris and their son Salmon, Dawn West and husband Mike and their son Michael, Danny Whitten and his daughters Charisma and Lexi, Benjamin Whitten, and Nichole and Stephanie Libby; his sisters, Priscilla Wing and husband Larry, Pam Kennerson and husband Roy, April Mathieu and husband Pete, Paula Saul and husband Allan, and brother-in-law Jimmy Gilley; brother-in-laws, Ralph Hopper and wife Lorraine, Richard Hopper and wife Pat, Jack Hopper and wife Pam; and sister-in-law Lorraine Flagg and husband Dale. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews and his best friend, his dog Nigel. There will be no funeral service. The family would like to invite everyone to visit at Paul & Elsie’s home from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21st for a celebration of Paul’s life.
