Stephen W. Bisson Obituary (1947 - 2013)

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Stephen W. Bisson, 66, formerly of Winthrop, Maine, died on July 15, 2013, in Wilmington, N.C., surrounded by his family. Stephen was born in Augusta, Maine, on Feb. 11, 1947, the son of the late Eleanor and Lawrence Bisson. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Rosa and Wilfred Bisson; and maternal grandparents Bertha and Raymond Riley; and by his brother, Raymond Bisson. Stephen is survived by his wife, Linda, of Southport, N.C.; and his two daughters, Kim Thompson, and her husband, Larry, and their children, Paul, Kate and Tyler, of Harrisburg, N.C., and Amy and Matt Lehman and their children, Anthony and Owen, of Annville, Pa.; one son, Matthew Bisson, of Winthrop, Maine; and his stepson, Scott Rogers, and his wife, Kaitlyn, and their sons, Tyler and Braydon, of Charlotte, N.C. Stephen is also survived by his sister, Linda MacDonald, of Winthrop, Maine; along with cousins Natalie Weise, of Brookfield, Conn., Tim and Pat Fish, of Winthrop, Maine, Carole and Don Kelley, of Wiscasset, Maine, Bill Fish Jr., of Trenton, N.J., and Kathy and Michael Cameron, of Winthrop, Maine. Steve also left behind his best friends since childhood, Don Riggs, Kenny Patten and Charlie Gordon, whose friendship he treasured. Stephen graduated from Winthrop High School in 1965 and joined the Air Force where he spent his enlistment in Texas, Vietnam and Virginia. Upon his discharge, he worked for Arlington Trust Co. for two years and received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, D.C. He later was employed by American Petroleum Co. for 25 years. He and his wife retired to North Carolina where Stephen worked part time as an accountant for the past 10 years for a local builder. Steve enjoyed bowling, playing golf and traveling with his wife, Linda, and their dog, Austin. Stephen's pride and joy was his 1957 Thunderbird and he was a member of the Thunderbird Car Club which he enjoyed and traveled to several states for car shows. No matter what Steve was doing, donating his time the church, working at the shelter, helping at the bait shop, he always had a smile on his face and left his spirit in everyone's heart. Steve was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southport. Arrangements will be announced at a later date by Knowlton Roberts Funeral Home in Winthrop.
