William S Urquart Obituary (1948 - 2013)

WAYNE—William S. Urquhart, Jr. 64, of Wayne, died Wednesday July 24, 2013 at his home, after a short illness. He was born September 26, 1948 in Weymouth, Massachusetts, the son of William S. Sr. and Marnee (Young) Urquhart. He grew up in Long Beach California, and graduated from Milliken High School. He was an avid swimmer and surfer as a young man. He moved to Maine in 1974, working as a carpenter. An injury forced him to change careers so, he returned to school, attending Unity College and graduating in 1997. He then went to work at the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and later for the Maine Forest Service as an entomologist. Bill loved to fly fish, boat and everything outdoors. He was also an accomplished cheese and sausage maker. He loved working with his hands. He was a great father and husband. Mr. Urquhart was predeceased by his parents and a son, Michael P. Urquhart. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Lack) Urquhart; his sons, Richard W. Urquhart, of Farmingdale and Jason A. Urquhart, of Gold Beach Oregon; a sister, Dayna Haines Weil, of California; his grandchildren, Jessie Dylan Stearns Urquhart, Devin Michael Houghton Urquhart, Lanayria Indigo Urquhart, Jonathan Urquhart and Kaden Urquhart; a nephew, Andrew Dobos and a niece, Rebackah Dobos. There will be a celebration of Bill’s life at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop.
