Obituary

READFIELD - Agnes Mary Carr, 79, died Monday, December 01, 2003, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care, Glenridge Dr., Augusta. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on March 30th, 1924, the daughter of Charles and Florence (Dewey) Rhodes. Agnes graduated from Simon Gates High School in Philadelphia. On March 31st, 1945, she married Joseph Martin Carr in North Carolina. She was a salesperson for most of her working life. She and Joseph retired to Maine in 1980, where she was very active with the United Methodist Women and volunteered at Readfield Elementary School. They also enjoyed traveling in their retirement years. A homemaker who was very fond of children, Mrs. Carr was an extremely loving grandmother dedicated to her family, her grandchildren, and her Lord. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, on December 31st, 1982, and also by her sister, Fannie Doney. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Stockford, and her husband, Keith, of Readfield; two grandchildren, Heather L. Welsh and her husband, Andrew, of Sanbornton, N.H., and Eric J. Stockford of Readfield; and two nephews, Rev. Richard Cook, and his wife, Karen, of Lima, Ohio, and Robert Doney of Austin, Texas. Relatives and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, Dec. 3rd, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Readfield United Methodist Church with Revs. Karen Munson and Richard Cook officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Readfield United Methodist Church, P.O.
