HALLOWELL ? Alfreda M. 'Freddy' Young, 57, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born in Augusta on Aug. 4, 1945, the daughter of Alfredo and Veronica (Burns) Masciadri. A lifelong resident of Hallowell, Freddy was a graduate of Hall-Dale High School, class of 1963. In 1964, she married David E. Young at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Hallowell. She and her husband, David, owned and operated Fido's Market, a family- run business, for many years in Hallowell. She and David also owned and operated Young's Realty. Freddy worked for the Hubbard Free Library for many years, volunteered for Hospice Volunteers of Kennebec Valley, and was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed her time spent with family and friends at the family cottages on the coast, and she especially loved and enjoyed spending time with her two grandsons. She is survived by her life partner and husband of 39 years, David E. Young Sr. of Hallowell; her son, David E. Young Jr. and his wife, Melanie, of Hallowell; her two daughters, Priscilla Young of Hallowell and Sarah Vincent and her husband, Scott, of Manchester; two sisters, Veronica Molloy of Hallowell and Catherine Masciadri of Augusta; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Barbara Young, of Millers Falls, Mass., Alden and Karen Young of Farmingdale, Donald and Linda Young of Hallowell and Richard and Jennifer Young of North Whitefield; her two special grandsons, Seth and Evan Vincent, both of Manchester; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and relatives are invited to visit and celebrate Freddy's life 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at her son and daughter-in-law's home, 171 Second St., Hallowell. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Summer Street, Hallowell, with the Rev. George Hickey, celebrant. Interment will follow in Hallowell Cemetery.
