AUGUSTA - Alice W. Marcy, 78, of Leighton Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at her home. She was born in Augusta on Oct. 8, 1926, the daughter of William and Sarah (Dowe) Watson. She graduated from Cony High School and attended college in New York. Alice had worked as a secretary at several Augusta area schools. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and St. Mark's Altar Guild. Alice also was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Augusta Country Club and had served on the board of directors. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren W. Marcy, in 1971, and also a brother, Gerald Bachman. She is survived by three nieces, Pamela O'Connor of Augusta, Jane Fuller of Woolwich and Judith Vozella of Elliot. Alice also is survived by her many friends in the community and a close friend, Wini Turner and her family. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Augusta, with the Rev. Elizabeth Miller officiating. Alice will be buried next to her husband in the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to St. Mark's Church, 9 Summer St., Augusta, or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
