AUGUSTA - Anita C. Gary, 84, of Augusta died on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at the Maine Veterans' Home in Augusta. She was born in Skowhegan on Sept. 7, 1921, the daughter of Ben and Eugenia (Staples) Collins. She attended Waterford schools and Bridgton Academy and graduated from Cony High School in 1940. She married Earle Gary on Jan. 24, 1948. Anita operated a licensed day-care center in her home for several years. She was a member of South Parish Congregational Church, UCC. Mrs. Gary was predeceased by her husband, Earle, in 1997. She is survived by a son, Peter E. Gary of Glassboro, N.J.; four daughters, Coleen Bryant and her husband, Herbert, of Augusta, Janice L. Gary of Augusta, Ethel Cooper and her husband, Tom, of Orlando, Fla., and Janet L. Smith and her husband, Michael, of Orlando; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be private, and Anita will be buried in the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, beside her husband.
