WINTHROP - Barbara D. Lovejoy, 90, of Winthrop, and formerly of Wayne, died on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at a Winthrop nursing home. She was born on April 14, 1915, in Winterport, the daughter of Earle and Mary (Arbuckle) Dunton. Barbara grew up in the Winterport area and graduated from Bangor High School. After high school, Barbara attended beauty school and eventually became a beautician. She lived in Wayne most of her married life, where she and her husband, the late Vern Lovejoy, ran a grocery store and beauty shop. Barbara was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Business and Professional Women. In her spare time, she enjoyed art and theater and performed in several local productions. Mrs. Lovejoy is survived by her daughter, Jill Newton and her husband, Ronald, of Manchester; a son, David Lovejoy and his wife, Joan, of South Gardiner; her grandchildren, Eric and Duncan Lovejoy and Kimberly and Kurt Newton; and her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jared, Chloe and Phoebe Lovejoy, Clark, Alden and Dominique Lovejoy, and Evan Manfred. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, with Barbara's grandson Eric Lovejoy officiating.
