Bertha Seilhan Obituary (1915 - 2006)

AUGUSTA - Bertha M. Seilhan, 90, died on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at the Maine Veterans' Home in Augusta. She was born in Caribou on Dec. 27, 1915, the daughter of Andrew and Alise (Desjardin) Violette. Bertha graduated from Stearns High School and spent most of her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and camping, and was a member of the Good Sams Club. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallowell. She was predeceased by her husband, Morris Seilhan in 2003; two brothers; and three sisters. She was survived by a son, Richard 'Dick' Seilhan, of Farmingdale; a daughter, Rose Marie Pitts and her husband, Dennis, of Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren, Richard Seilhan Jr., Rhonda Lambert, Scott Pitts, Marie Hewett and Kathleen Kuhn; eight great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Elizabeth and Emily Lambert, Thomas, Michael and Elizabeth Pitts, Jacqueline Kuhn and Jessica Hewett; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1 Church St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, Hallowell, with the Rev. George Hickey, celebrant. Burial will be in Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
