MOUNT VERNON ? Brett M. Norman, 18, of Point Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston. Brett was born in Woodbridge, Va., Feb. 8, 1983, the son of Thomas and Kathleen (Murphy) Norman. He attended Maranacook High School and was currently employed with Concrete Craftsmen Inc., in Monmouth. Brett enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Robert Whitsel, of Mount Vernon; his father, Thomas E. Norman, of Martinsburg, West Va.; maternal grandparents, John and Gabrielle Murphy, of Lyman; a stepsister, Kristine Munn, of Las Vegas; step grandparents, Dwane and Helen Whitsel, of Three Springs, Pa.; his girlfriend, Angie Soucy, of Belgrade; and several aunts and uncles. Relatives and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. John A. Mason, 61, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Sandy River Rehabilitation Center in Farmington, where he had been a resident for the past day following a brief illness. He was born in Farmington, Nov. 13, 1940, the son of Hezekiah T. and Marguerite (Butterfield) Mason, and attended the schools of Farmington. Starting in the early 1960s, he hand-sewed shoes for Bass Shoe Co. in Wilton for more than 10 years. He also worked for Mount Blue Construction, Maine Mountain Shoe in Wilton, and subcontracted shoes for Dexter Shoe Co. and L.L. Bean. He enjoyed taking care of the family blueberry farm in Vienna for many years, retiring in the early 1990s. His hobbies included hunting, brook fishing and visiting with many of his friends. He is survived by his mother, Marguerite Mason, of Vienna; a daughter, Angela Watt, and her husband, Jay, of Madison; a son, Michael, and his wife, Kathy, of Farmington; four grandchildren, Brittney and Devon Watt, Michelle and Danielle Mason; a niece, Debbie Henry, of Jay; and a nephew, Bernard LaVerdiere, of Livermore; a longtime friend, Helen Fitzhebert, of Livermore; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Hezekiah; a brother, Harold; and a sister, Bertha. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Adams Funeral Home, 108 Court Street, Farmington, with visiting hours from 9 to 10 a.m., the hour before the funeral. Interment in the spring will be at North Franklin Cemetery in Vienna.
