Bryant McDavid Obituary (1909 - 2005)

AUGUSTA - Bryant C. 'Pete' McDavid, 95, of Gilman Street died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at his home. He was born in Augusta on June 26, 1909, and attended Augusta area schools. Pete served in the Army (artillery battalion) during World War II. He had worked for E.E. Taylor Shoe Co., Hazzard Shoe and Statler Tissue. He was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and the American Legion Post 2, Augusta. Pete loved animals, especially his dog, Sheba. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers and watching sports. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy McDavid, on May 31, 1993. He is survived by two nieces, Judith Pooler of Fairfield and Myrtle Sargis of New Britain, Conn.; his housekeeper and caregiver, Winnie Higgins of Augusta; also many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews. Visiting will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, where a service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Bamforth officiating. Spring burial will be in Hallowell Cemetery, Hallowell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, Pet Haven Lane, Augusta 04330. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
