Obituary

Augusta - Cecil D. Quimby, 82, of Civic Center Drive died Friday July 27, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Albion on June 26, 1925 the son of Lee and Lucy (Marshy) Quimby. Cecil graduated from Bessey High School in Albion and had worked as a milk tester for the State of Maine. In 1952 he purchased his own farm and started his career in farming. He was nominated as Top Herdsman of Kennebec County three times and was a lifetime member of the Maine Farm Bureau. After his retirement, Cecil enjoyed working in his vegetable gardens and would share with family and friends what he had grown. He was also a member of the Albion Oddfellows Lodge. He was predeceased by a brother Donald and 2 sisters, Barbara and Evelyn. He is survived by 3 sons, Steve Quimby and his wife Lisa of Augusta, Jeffrey Quimby and his wife Leslie of Belfair, WA. And John Quimby and his wife Bonnie of Augusta; 2 brothers Duke Quimby of Winslow and Harvey Quimby of San Bernardino, CA.; 3 grandchildren, Thomas Quimby, Jake Quimby and Dustin MacDonald; also several nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held Monday July 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta. Burial will be in the No.4 cemetery, Albion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the HealthReach Hospice and Volunteers of Kennebec County, 150 Dresden Ave, Gardiner 04345.
