Obituary

WINTHROP - Charlotte Fletcher Dunn, 95, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Nov. 6, 2010, at MaineGeneral Rehab & Nursing Care, Glenridge Drive, Augusta. Charlotte was born in Fitchburg, Mass., on March 2, 1915, the daughter of George and Jennie (Anderson) Fletcher. She graduated from Fitchburg High School, Fitchburg, Mass., in 1933, and went on to attend Goddard College in Vermont. Charlotte married Wallace A. Dunn on April 12, 1939, in Worcester, Mass. They moved to Winthrop from Ware, Mass. in September 1961. She worked as a bookkeeper in Fitchburg before marrying, and then became a full-time wife, mother and member of her community. Charlotte treasured her summers spent with family in her early years at camp in Westminster, Mass., on Wyman's Pond, and made beloved memories during her summers in later years with her family and grandchildren at camp in Rockwood on Moosehead Lake. She adored the holidays and took pleasure in making crafts and mittens for the holiday craft fair at the Winthrop Methodist Church, and for many years, she enjoyed making Easter baskets for Wilson's Dollar Store in Winthrop. She also cherished time spent with her girlfriends in town playing card games and sharing laughs. Charlotte is survived by her son, Wallace F. Dunn and his wife, Kathleen, of Winthrop; her daughter, Sandra D. Hamel of Jekyll Island, Ga.; her grandson, Douglas K. Dunn and his wife, Angelique, and their children Noah and Isabella, all of Winthrop; her granddaughter, Darcy A. Baird and her husband, Jason, and their children Ryan, Logan and Colton, all of Winthrop; as well as extended family, including nephews Bob and Bill Fletcher, and niece Joanne (Fletcher) Meziere. Family and friends may visit together from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where a celebration of Charlotte's life will follow visitation at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ned Crockett officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop. Donations may be made in Charlotte's memory to HealthReach Hospice, P.O.
