AUGUSTA - Christine Elizabeth 'Betty' Turner, 78, of Cony Street Extension died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born at home on Allen Street in Augusta on April 18, 1926, the daughter of Thomas J. and Caroline M. (Schoppe) Ellis. Betty was a bank teller at Augusta Savings and Loan and had also worked at the Augusta Print Shop. She was a member of St. Mark's and St. Barnabas Episcopal churches in Augusta. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking and watching soap operas. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Turner; sisters Laura Javis, Caroline Norcross and Isabelle Cusson; brother Raymond Ellis; and nieces Patricia Morehouse and Virginia Heald. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Ann 'Betsy' Turner, Augusta; two nieces, Sharon Ann 'Flash' Cusson of Augusta and Priscilla Jacques and her husband, Raymond, of Lebanon, Conn.; also a great-niece, Gracie LaMarr of China, and great-nephews Darren Heald of Dayton and Richard Heald of Augusta. Visiting will be private. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Grove Cemetery, Augusta.
