Dorothy Jeanne Jacobsohn,73, died Tuesday October 26, 2004 at her home. She was born on December 19th 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, the only daughter of Sheldon Dow and Dorothy (Henry) Williams. Mrs. Jacobsohn lived in California before moving to Maine in 1971. She was a talented artist and won several awards for her paintings at juried exhibitions in California. She was a dedicated patron of the arts and supported museums, libraries, theater groups and preservation organizations. She was associated with Gaslight Theater in Hallowell, Maine and performed in many plays. She also served on the executive board as secretary for several terms. A lifelong volunteer, she volunteered for the Red Cross, USO, Augusta Mental Health Institute, the Maine State Museum and many political campaigns. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Ulrich B. Jacobsohn of Farmingdale; 2 sons, David C. Jacobsohn and his wife Lorraine of Acton, Massachusetts and Mark S. Jacobsohn and his wife Denise of York, Maine. Two daughters, Julia Barrett of West Gardiner, ME. and Stacey Lindholm of Augusta, ME.; Six grandsons, Alex Jacobsohn of Grafton, MA, Bradley, Sheldon, and Clark Jacobsohn of Acton, MA, Jack Barrett of West Gardiner, ME. and James M. Jacobsohn of York, ME.A grandson, Parker A. Barrett, predeceased her in 1992.Visiting will be held on Sunday, October 31, from noon to 2:00pm at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, followed by a funeral service at 2:00. The Rev. James Gill will officiate. Burial will be in the Northern Ave Cemetery, Farmingdale.In lieu of flowers, friends who wish to do so may send a contribution to Gaslight Theater, P.O.
