WINTHROP - Daniel J. Bowman, 34, of Farmingdale and formerly of Winthrop died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. He was born Dec. 31, 1975, and was raised by Shirley and Margaret Carter in Winthrop. He attended Winthrop schools and participated in the Special Olympics. In 2003 and 2009, Daniel was named Person of the Year at Uplift. Daniel had recently spent time on vacation at the coast, enjoying rides in the car and listening to music. He was living in Farmingdale at the time of his death. Daniel was predeceased by his foster parents, Shirley and Margaret Carter, and his godfather, Clyde Kaherl. He is survived by his guardian, Rose Kaherl and his foster siblings, Barbara Mangin, Sheila Kinney, Darron Carter and Jackie Blodgett. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane in Winthrop. Memorial donations may be made to the Maine Special Olympics, 125 John Roberts Road No. 19, South Portland, ME 04106.
