WEST GARDINER - David A. Dawbin, 67, of Collins Mills Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice House in Auburn. He was born in Gardiner on July 12, 1943, the son of George and Kathryn (Brown) Dawbin Sr. David graduated from Searsport High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Was and the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He returned to Maine to work at several manufacturing jobs before retiring from International Paper in 2005. He had lived in Isleboro for a short time before moving to West Gardiner. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Dawbin, of West Gardiner; a son, Frederick Allen Dawbin, of Augusta; four daughters Ronda Littlefield and her husband, James, Veronica Grady and her husband, William, Amanda Perkins and her husband, Brian, all of West Gardiner, and Stacy Crowley and her partner ,Joseph Langlois, of Lewiston; two brothers, George Albert Dawbin, II and his wife, Brenda, of West Gardiner, and Gerald Dawbin and his wife, Rose, of Winthrop; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, where a celebration of life will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be held in the chapel at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Androscoggin Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston ME 04243.
