Obituary

WAYNE - Donald S. Butcher, 73, of Lovejoy Pond Road died unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Don was born in Fenton, Mich., on Dec. 7, 1934, the son of Walter and Florence (Dibble) Butcher. He graduated from Fenton High School and enlisted in the Air Force, serving three tours of duty in Southeast Asia. He retired as lieutenant colonel in 1975. He later worked in the engineering department at Augusta General Hospital, now MaineGeneral Medical Center, for 20 years, retiring again in 1996. He married Margie Kordatsky on Dec. 28, 1955. In his younger years, Don was a Sea Scout and a Boy Scout. He was a member of Wayne Community Church and enjoyed gardening and flying. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margie Butcher, of Wayne; a son, David A. Butcher and his wife, Tracy, of Milton, Fla.; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no visiting hours. A celebration of Don's life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, in Wayne Community Church. Burial will be in North Wayne Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne Community Church, P.O. Box 300, Wayne, ME 04284.
