WINTHROP CENTER- Dorothy Amelia French, 76, loving wife of Richard B. French, of Winthrop, passed away at their home on Sunday, September 18th, 2005. She was born in North Dighton, MA on Sept. 13, 1929, the daughter of the late Clifford Wood, Sr. and Amelia (Byrom) Wood. Dot loved her family, her home, flowers, music, piano and books. She worked periodically in different positions at several jobs, with the last two as ward secretary at Thayer Hospital in Waterville and as a waitress at Larson?s Restaurant in East Winthrop. She was also a volunteer at Togus VA Hospital for 22 years with 9 of those years having been served with the Chaplain Service. Dot was a very active member of the East Winthrop Baptist Church for 16 years. She was presently a member of Penney Memorial United Baptist Church in Augusta where she was on the music committee for several years. She is survived by her husband, Richard; two sons, Lloyd W. Chase & wife, Cheryl, of Chester, NH and Mark C. Chase & wife, Judi, of S. Portland; one daughter, Kathleen C. Allen, of Whitefield; two brothers, Clifford Wood, Jr. of Meridith, NH and Leonard Wood & wife, June, of Ijamsville, MD; seven grandchildren, Adam Chase & wife, Rachelle, of Raymond, NH, James Chase & wife of New Hampshire, Jordan Chase of S. Portland, and Sarah, Julia, Karen, and Robin Chase; three great grandchildren, Adam J. Chase, Riley Chase, and Kaedon Green; three nieces, Cheryl, Lorie, and Stacey Wood; two stepsons, Goff French & wife, Linda, of Smithfield and Hugh French of St. Albans; one stepdaughter, Hope Otis & husband, Michael, of Skowhegan; and five step grandchildren, Darren French, Matt Otis, Colin French, Heather Green & husband, Kyle, and Ceara French. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, Sept. 22nd, at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Tolander officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the church with interment and committal prayers, offered by Rev. Eric Moore, scheduled for 3:00 pm at Sunset Cemetery on Pleasant St. in North Anson.
