Obituary

WINTHROP ? Dorothy I. Mangin, 90, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Heritage Rehabilitation Center in Winthrop. She was born in Bangor, April 9, 1912, the daughter of Roland and Ellen (Miller) Hammond. Dorothy attended Winthrop schools. She was a dedicated, loving wife and mother, and throughout her life she worked at the Winthrop Corn Shop, Winthrop Mill, and for several years at the Martha Washington Inn. She was a woman of great faith, and her family was her life. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all of her family. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Jordan Mangin, in 1998; two daughters, Marilyn Melnyk in 1998, and Trudy Gilbault in February 2003; her two brothers, Don and Bodwell Hammond; and a sister, Eleanor Rice. She is survived by her three sons, Ralph and Joe Mangin, both of Winthrop, and David Mangin of Oquossoc; four daughters, Sally Noel of Raymond, Chris Stockford of Gales Ferry, Conn., Shirley Mangin of Chelsea, and Linda Belz of Winthrop; a sister, June Palman of Winthrop; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private graveside service will be held in the spring at Glenside Cemetery, Winthrop. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to HealthReach Hospice, P.O.
