OAKLAND - Dorothy Louise Stevens, 83, of Oakland, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. She was born in Palmyra, Nov. 7, 1926, the daughter of Albert and Idella (Overlock) Luce. She moved to Oakland and began working for Cascade Woolen Mills where she spent most of her career. Dorothy enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stevens was predeceased by her husband, Harold Stevens; her parents; her stepmother, Emma Luce; and her siblings, Ella Varney, Madeline Fields, Eunice Creamer, Stanley Luce, Florence Rowe, Ellen James, and Pauline Pooler. She is survived by her sons, Robert Stevens and his wife, Karen and Carol Stevens and his wife, Morag; a half-brother, Peter Lessor, of Newport; grandchildren, Martin, Jason, and Jeremiah Stevens; step-grandchildren, Lindsay, Kaitlin, and Alexander Soltis, Cameron, Christopher, and Kaylee Cole, Caroline Soltis, and Tracy Cole and three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Timothy, and Thomas Stevens. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, CCD, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, ME 04330.
