Edith 20011106 Obituary (1943 - 2001)

SIDNEY ? Edith Marion Thompson, 58, of Sidney, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Mount Saint Joseph's Nursing Home, in Waterville. She was born in Mount Vernon, Nov. 4, 1943, the daughter of Charles and Ardis (Clough) Whynot. She married Wallace Thompson, Aug. 15, 1964. Together, Edith and Wallace were active in the Sidney Grange and later the Readfield Grange. They traveled all over the state to attend Grange meetings. She and Wallace also loved to go for long rides in the car, almost daily. Edith loved cats and had many until she moved to Mount Saint Joseph's in 1996. Mrs. Thompson was predeceased by her mother, Ardis Whynot, in 1973; her father, Charles Whynot, in 1974; and her husband, Wallace Thompson, in 1993. She is survived by her uncle, Clyde Clough, of Readfield; three aunts, and several cousins, including Dorothy Weeks, and her husband, Leon, of Farmingdale. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in the Reynolds Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
