RANDOLPH - Edward Blaine Baker went home to his savior and Lord Jesus Christ on June 29, 2010, after a 23-year battle with kidney-related illness and heart disease. He was born April 25, 1950, in Augusta, the son of Kenneth and Irene (Wheelock) Baker. He was the youngest of eight children. He married his sweetheart, Mary Jane Robinson, of Winthrop. They shared 41 years of marriage, enjoying their family, loved ones, many friends and their faith in God. Ed worked for 20 years at Statler Tissue before he became disabled with polycystic kidney disease. Mr. Baker was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Junior Baker; and his sister, Lena Parlin. Edward was devoted to and loved unconditionally his three sons, Shawn, of Randolph, Scott, of Hallowell, and Ryan and his companion, Amy Chaplin, of Farmingdale. He was also a very loving grandfather, known as 'Papa' to his granddaughters, Alexandra and Amily Baker, daughters of Shawn. He also loved as his own James Thurber and Benjamin Everette, of Augusta; and Tessa Chaplin, daughter of Amy. Edward is also survived by his brother, Norman Baker and his wife, Sharon; four sisters, Betty Gervais, Norene Collins and her husband, Donald, Jacki Beckim and her husband, Russ, and Rita Messerschmidt; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be forever missed by those who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kennebec Valley Assembly of God Church, 44 Hallowell Road, Chelsea. Burial will follow at Hallowell Cemetery.
