WINTHROP - Elsie H. Monck, 87, of Loon Cove Lane died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston. She was born in Akron, Ohio, on April 18, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Marold) Yeager. Elsie attended New Brunswick High School in New Jersey. She had worked in the family-owned confectionary store, Loft's, and for Johnson and Johnson. On April 2, 1944, she married Ernest F. Monck. His military career took them to Winter Haven, Fla., where she worked in the Post Exchange at the Air Force Base. After World War II, she and her husband settled in Bound Brook, N.J., for 50 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Brunswick and its Ladies Auxiliary. Elsie enjoyed watching television. She would watch game shows and drama, but particularly liked to watch the Lawrence Welk and 'I Love Lucy' shows. She also loved to read, cook and lovingly care for her family. She cared for both her ailing mother and father in their latter years until they died. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ernest Monck, of Winthrop; a daughter, Mary Meskers and her husband, Robert, of Winthrop; a granddaughter, Rebecca Small, and her husband, Chris, of Raymond, N.H.; also several cousins in Highland Park, N.J. In 1996, she and her husband moved to Maine to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Her senior years were spent just as she always wanted, with her immediate family.
