WINTHROP ? Faris Manter Currier, 88, of Winthrop died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She was born in Readfield, Sept. 29, 1914, the daughter of Melville and Lillian (Cowan) Manter. Faris attended Readfield schools, graduating from Kents Hill School in 1932. She married Carleton 'Cud' Currier June 15, 1935 in Winthrop. Faris enjoyed her work in many of the local grocery stores in Winthrop. She will be sadly missed by her only daughter, Jane Jones and her husband, Roland, of Winthrop; a grandson, Ron Jones and his wife, B.J., of Oakland; a granddaughter, Maureen Laverdiere and her husband, Mark, of Waterville; her great-grandchildren, Lacie Burgess, Chris, Adam, Mark and Chad Jones, and Benjamin Plante; and a great-great-granddaughter, Grace Burgess. There will be a graveside service in the spring at Readfield Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heritage Manor Activities Fund, 457 Old Lewiston Road, Winthrop 04364. Arrangments are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, Winthrop.
