Obituary

WINTHROP - Frank J. Antonucci Jr., 72, of Highland Heights, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation at Glenridge, with his wife at his side. He was born in Boston, on Aug. 12, 1938, the son of Frank and Ancilla (Groppi) Antonucci. Frank graduated from Boston Latin High School, received his bachelor's in education from the University of Maine, Orono, and his master's in education and counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. Frank worked as a consultant for Truancy & Dropout, Alternative Education, the Department of Education and Cultural Services under the commissioner, to the department and public schools statewide. He was sales representative for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. At the University of Maine in Augusta, he served as assistant to the president, acting director at the university and the Lewiston-Auburn center; director of community outreach services; director of the Office of Career Planning and Counseling and also a counselor. He taught mathematics at Monmouth Academy, where he was School Committee chairman, and served on the Maine Advisory Committee on Assessment Studies. Frank was active in his community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus; president and served on the Board of Directors of the Winthrop Rotary Club; president of Maine Personnel and Guidance Association; Board of Directors and chairperson of APGA, North Atlantic Region; was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma at UMO and attended St. Francis Xavier Church in Winthrop. He enjoyed woodworking, tending to his vegetable garden and playing with his grandchildren. Frank is survived by his wife, Megan Antonucci, of Winthrop; a son, Robert F. Antonucci, and his wife, Iris, of Afghanistan; three daughters, Karen Guillemette of Manchester, Deborah Ouellette and her husband, Robert, of Bedford, N.H., and Nina Guillemette and her husband, Dave, of Manchester; two brothers, Ronald Antonucci, of Conway, N.H., and John Antonucci and his wife, Linda, of Bozeman, Mont.; nine grandchildren, Jocelyn, Ethan, Jason, Shawn, Stephanie, Peter, Marissa, Mair and Hannah; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. Visiting will be held on Thursday, April 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 26 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
