READFIELD - Frederick 'Fred' Morgan Sr., 81, of Main Street died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Gray Birch, Augusta. He was born in West Gardiner on May 31, 1928, the son of William and Ella (Booth) Morgan Sr. He attended West Gardiner and Manchester schools. He had worked for Everett Mace as a woodsman, farmhand, truck driver and, later, as a sawyer, until his retirement in 1982. Fred was an outdoorsman who loved fishing and going hunting with his beagles. He was a member of the Kennebec Valley Beagle Club and the Seven Mile Beaglers in Jay. His hobbies included working on outboard motors, tending to his vegetable gardens and just tinkering around the house. Their home was always open to others in need, and everyone was welcome. He is survived by his wife of his 63 years, Vangie Morgan, of Readfield; four sons, Donald Morgan, of Canaan, David Morgan and his wife, Deborah, of Litchfield, Frederick Morgan Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Readfield, and Mike Morgan and his wife, Wendy, of Fayette; three daughters, Linda Andres, of Augusta, Valerie Morgan, of Stratford, N.H., and Holly Labonte and her husband, Maurice, of Readfield; a brother, John Morgan, of Readfield; a sister, Hazel Dupont, of Farmingdale; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and an aunt. Visiting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where a memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday.
