Ganny Sciuk Obituary (1919 - 2010)

NORTH MONMOUTH - Ganny John Sciuk, 90, of Main Street, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was born in North Monmouth on Dec. 10, 1919, the son of Frank and Katherine (Ozog) Sciuk. Ganny was educated in North Monmouth schools, graduating from Monmouth Academy. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army during World War II from Oct. 12, 1942, until his separation on Sept. 12, 1945. Soon after his honorable discharge from the Army, Ganny found employment with Albany Felt Co. in North Monmouth and retired there after 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and especially socializing with his friends. Ganny is survived by his nieces and nephews, Jane Fortenberry of North Monmouth, Gail Martel of Auburn, Bruce Farnham of West Bath, and Linda Yeaton and Wendy Shoppe, both of Winthrop. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where a celebration of his life will follow the visitation at 1 p.m., with Deacon Dean Lachance celebrant. Interment with full military honors will follow in Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop. For those who wish, contributions in Ganny's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
