VIENNA - George H. Meader, 70, of Vienna, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was born in Vienna on April 27, 1939, the son of Linwood Sr. and Edith (Bannister) Meader. George grew up in Vienna and entered the Air Force in 1956. He spent four years in the service, being discharged in 1960. He worked at several jobs around Vienna until eventually becoming a farmer, raising chickens for Lipman Bros. Poultry. He also worked as a carpenter and handyman in addition to farming. George retired from farming in 2001 but continued to work at various odd jobs in the area. Mr. Meader was an avid fisherman and hunter. He always had animals around the house and loved feeding the birds. Family and friends were the most important things in George's life. George is survived by his wife, Carrie (Cunningham) Meader; his sons, Frank Meader and his wife, Evonne, of Boise, Idaho, and John Meader and his wife, Kris, of Glendale, Ariz.; his daughter, Diane 'Dee' Meader, of Wayne; his brothers, Linwood Meader, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Vienna, Glendon Meader and his wife, Marchelle, of Farmington, Kenneth Meader of South Carolina, and John Cucurello and his wife, Darlene, of Connecticut; a sister, Donna Cucurello, of Connecticut; his grandchildren, Derik Wight, of Wayne, Chad Wight and his companion, Jenna Lawrence, of Fayette, Oshun Wight and her companion, Stanley Brown, of Augusta, Sarah Meader of Glendale and Tyler Meader of Boise; and his great-grandchildren, Mercedez Wight, Josie Lawrence, Sebastion Brown, and one on the way. Relatives and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A service in celebration of George's life will take place 2 p.m. Monday at North Vienna United Methodist Church with a reception to follow at the church.
