Germain Roy Obituary (1935 - 2005)

AUGUSTA - Germain P. Roy, 69, of Hillcrest Street died on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at his home. He was born on April 28, 1935, the son of Omer and Ida (Tetreault) Roy. Germain had worked as a carpenter and mason in New Hampshire and Maine before becoming disabled in 1989. He was also a handyman who did odd jobs and work for other people. Germain enjoyed playing bingo and had a love for animals, especially his cat, Kitty. He is survived by his fiancee, Rosalie Barbeau of Augusta; five sons, Gerald Roy of Gorham, David Roy, Alan Roy and Steven Roy, all of Berlin, N.H., and Dennis Roy of Limington; a daughter, Donna of Berlin; four sisters, Aline Tremblay and husband Raymond of Berlin, Doris Ouimette of Connecticut, Jeannine Hood and her husband, Maurice, and Marie-Jeanne; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no funeral service. Visitation will occur 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
