WATERVILLE - Gladys B. Cole, 92, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at the Woodlands in Waterville. She was born in Augusta on April 11, 1918, the daughter of Harry and Ira (Glidden) Soule. Gladys graduated from Cony High School and attended Gates Business College. She had worked as a bookkeeper for several companies, including Gordon Motors, Maine State Police in Hallowell, Central Maine Power Co., Maytag and the Maine Children's Home. She was a member of Green Street United Methodist Church in Augusta. Gladys enjoyed knitting, crocheting, snowshoeing and camping. She had a love of animals, especially her German shepherd dog, and cats. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Cole, in 1987; and two brothers, Raymond Soule and William Soule. She is survived by a brother, Lewis Soule, of Waterville; and she was a dear aunt to several nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Thomas Blackstone, pastor of the Green Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Augusta.
