Obituary

WINTHROP ? Glenn A. Campbell, 50, of Knickerbocker Road, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at his home, with his family by his side. He was born in Boston, Mass., July 19, 1951, the son of William and Doris (Lane) Campbell. Glenn grew up in Medford and Billerica, Mass., had lived in Kentucky and New York, and then back to Massachusetts, living in Beverly, Dedham and West Roxbury. He was a graduate of Beverly High School. He entered the Navy and served for five years in nuclear submarines. He was stationed aboard the USS Bergall. After his service, Glenn drove a taxicab from Logan Airport in Boston before moving to Winthrop in 1991. He served on Monmouth Rescue for 10 years as an EMT II. He was founder and operator of the Winthrop Taxi Co. He was also a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars. Glenn was a kind and caring person. He enjoyed being with people and lending a hand if needed. He had a great sense of humor that knew no boundaries. He loved to watch baseball, especially the Red Sox, and also NASCAR racing. Glenn also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in his adopted state of Maine. He is survived by his parents, the Rev. Bill and Doris Campbell of Winthrop; two brothers, the Rev. Scott Campbell and his wife, Linda, of Cambridge, Mass., and Stephen G. Campbell and his wife, Murial, of Merrimac, Mass.; and a sister, OiWah Towne and her husband, Aaron, of Stone Mountain, Ga. He is also survived by a close family friend, Robert Dunton, of Winthrop, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Winthrop United Methodist Church with the Rev. Heidi Chamberland officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Winthrop United Methodist Church, PO Box 136, Winthrop 04364; HealthReach Hospice, PO Box 829, Waterville 04903-0829; or Monmouth Rescue, c/o Doris LeMaster, PO Box 322, Monmouth 04259. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
