LITCHFIELD - Greta (Baxter) Bubier, 78, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. She was born in Eastport on Sept. 15, 1927, the daughter of Fred and Florence (Whelpley) Baxter. A retired bookkeeper, Greta worked in various capacities, which included serving as deputy treasurer of Kennebec County and as selectwoman and town manager of Litchfield. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed playing bingo. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Lila Cammick; and four brothers, Leo, Everett, John and Edward Baxter. She was survived by her husband of 46 years, Wallace Bubier Sr., of Litchfield; four sons, Gary Raye of Lincoln, James Raye of Eastport, Stephen Raye of Embden, and Wallace 'Buddy' Bubier Jr. of South China; one daughter, Ann Belanger of Athens; three sisters, Margaret Richie and Edna Ferson, both of Perry, and Alice Williams of Kansas City, Mo; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A graveside committal service will be held at Litchfield Plains Cemetery in the spring.
