MANCHESTER - Harold Stuart Baker, 67, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills after a long illness. He was born Aug. 31, 1941, in Dorchester, Mass., the son of Harold and Althea Baker. He attended Windsor schools and graduated from Cony High School. He was a member of Manchester Community Church, the Readfield Grange, the Augusta Masonic Lodge and the 470 Railroad Club in Portland. Stuart had a passion for trains. He enjoyed riding aboard them, photographing them and traveling to the train museum. Stuart is survived by his wife Wanita (Davenport) Baker, of Manchester; a brother, Richard Baker and his wife, Liz, of Waldoboro; two sisters, Mary Wilson and her husband, Don, and Judy Bisson, all of Windsor; an uncle, Wilmont Baker, of California; an aunt, Opal Baker, of Florida; and his stepmother, Doris Baker, also of Florida. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Manchester Community Church, with the Rev. Ernest Johnson officiating.
