HALLOWELL - Herbert J. Blethen, 70, of Hallowell died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at his home in Hallowell. He was born Aug. 27, 1935, in Hallowell, the son of Herbert and Gladys (Murray) Blethen. He served in the Air Force from 1953 to 1964. Later, he worked as a chef and baker. Herb was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road in Augusta. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
