AUGUSTA ? Howard W. Trow, 78, of Augusta, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. He was born May 28, 1923, in Mount Vernon, N.H., the son of Norman D. and Helen (Howard) Trow. He moved to Augusta in 1931 and attended Augusta schools, graduating from Cony High School in 1941. After high school, he joined the Army, serving in an amphibious division in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Howard married Elizabeth 'Betty' Larrabee, June 25, 1948. They lived and raised their children on the family farm. It was there that he enjoyed his animals, especially his cows. Howard was employed by Edwards Mill, by Ernest Lajoie Roofing and Siding, and most recently by Parker Danner of Augusta. He retired in 1988. Howard was a member of the American Legion Post 205 in Augusta. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Hazel Lamontagne, and George Whittier. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; his two sons, Dan Trow and his wife, Cheryl, of Augusta, and Ronald Trow of Augusta; a brother, Charles Trow and his wife, Tobey Whittier, of Chelsea; a sister, Pauline Cannon and her husband, Charles, of Mount Laurel, N.J.; a stepbrother, Everett Fizer of Massachusetts; three grandsons, Michael Trow and his wife, Maria, Norman Trow, and Matthew Trow with Jessica Vigue; four great-granddaughters, Shari, Katy, Kayla and Abbey Trow; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may visit at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Augusta Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Norman Shaw officiating. Spring burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 30 Nazarene Drive, Augusta 04330; or to the scholarship fund at American Legion Post 205, Eastern Ave., Augusta 04330. www.khrfuneralhomes.com
