READFIELD - John 'Jack' Stokes, 93, passed away on May 24, 2010, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with his daughter, Karen Deckelman; and son-in-law, Rocky Paradis, of Readfield, by his side. Jack was born on Feb. 16, 1917, in Indianapolis, to Princess Goldie Garman and John Walter Stokes. He moved to Seattle as a young child after his father passed away. He lived in Seattle and Edmonds, Wash., until 2007, when his daughter moved him and his wife, Bubs, to Readfield to live the rest of their lives with her. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to The Shriner's Hospital for Children in Spokane, 911 West 5th Ave., P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99204.
